Have you heard? A New Orleans favorite is bringing their twist on a Southern staple to the Rocket City! Blue Oak BBQ in Huntsville will be the second location for the original barbecue restaurant specializing in oak-smoked meats and jazzed-up traditional sides.
About Blue Oak BBQ
New Orleans natives and best buds, Ronnie Evans and Philip Moseley opened their dream venture Blue Oak BBQ in 2012. First, the now well-known pulled pork, brisket and smoked chicken wings were served out of a late-night bar. Then they moved to a popular music venue before opening their own stand-alone restaurant near the jazz district in 2016.
The business partners always knew they would open a second location. However, they weren’t sure where. Talk of another Blue Oak BBQ in New Orleans or perhaps Baton Rouge were common. But then a surprising star showed up on the radar. After countless visits and deliberation, they chose Huntsville for the second-ever Blue Oak BBQ!
The city’s continued growth and the locals’ love for their hometown sealed the deal! Blue Oak BBQ in Huntsville plans to open in the up-and-coming MidCity District by summer 2022.
Blue Oak BBQ in Huntsville will serve the same awarding-winning menu items recognized as some of the best by a variety of publications. For example, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich was awarded “Best Use of Fried Chicken in a Dish” at the 2018 New Orleans’s Fried Chicken Festival. It was recognized again by the Today Show on their list of Best Fried Chicken in America!
Did we mention their award-winning smoked wings? Delish.com named Blue Oak BBQ’s wings as the best in the state of Louisiana as part of their “Best Wings in Every State” list in 2019.
Of course, GoNola recognized this local favorite as one of the top five barbecue places in the state too. Be ready for a tasty BBQ explosion with a side of ginger sesame slaw or roasted garlic mac-and cheese. Click here for the full menu.
