Coming Soon: New Huntsville Amphitheater

new Huntsville Amphitheater

The Rocket City is always shooting for the stars, but in this case, the stars will come to the city. Construction has started on the new Huntsville Amphitheater with a projected opening day set for April 2022.

A Grand Venue

The new Huntsville Amphitheater is the vision and result of a collaborative effort headed by the City of Huntsville and Venue Group, founded by Ben Lovett of the Grammy-award winning Mumford & Sons rock band.

A recent article in the Huntsville Business Journal further explained the business partnerships with the inclusion of the homebased Huntsville Venture Group. Headed up by former CEO of St. Augustine (Fla.) Amphitheater, Ryan Murphy is working closely with Lovett and the city.

The drawings and images of the future Huntsville Amphitheater conjure images of the Roman Colosseum. Even though it is grand in appearance, it’s the detailed science in every detail that will make this venue extraordinary.

Setting the Stage

There are many unique factors about this project. Included is the fact that a world-traveling musician is sharing his expertise—what works for the band, the crowd, the venue—to build a world-class performance center. On a video shared on the new Huntsville Amphitheater’s Facebook page, Lovett says he has been thinking about this for a long time. Engineers designed the amphitheater in a way that ensures that even those seated in the last rows of the 8,000-seat theater have “intimate” moment with the performers and the music.

Another unique aspect of this massive project: it isn’t just about attracting big stars and music concerts. It’s about a long-time vision coming to fruition that builds the community year-round. The amphitheater will be integrated into the new West Huntsville Park.

Because of the location, hiking trails and other outdoor recreation will be available around the Huntsville Amphitheater. And many days, you may happen upon a free community event. For example, when the stage isn’t star-studded, it will still shine with local talent. Community events such as arts festivals, local concerts, church events, farmers markets and graduation ceremonies will be held there too.

Music to the City’s Ears!

Want to know one more good thing about the future amphitheater? It’s creating jobs! There are a lot of opportunities to start or continue a career in anything from hospitality to security to cooking—as in legit chefs. Yet one more cool thing to expect with a visit to this venue is a dining experience you actually want! So, if you are in the market for a career change, come to Huntsville now!
