This season, you’ll probably see your fair share of visitors. If you want to show them something special, you can always take them on a trip to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. That’s right—Huntsville is home to a nationally—and internationally—famous aerospace center. You may not be able to visit space, but this is as close as most folks get to the stars!
What is the U.S. Space and Rocket Center?
Ever since 1970, the U.S. Space and Rocket Center has made it easy to head across the galaxy. This enormous, ever-growing museum includes exhibits, artifacts, and a whole lot of information about space. It’s not just a Huntsville treasure—it’s an American treasure too!
When you visit the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, there’s plenty to do and see. It offers featured attractions and programs like:
- Artifacts from the Apollo Program;
- Daily movies;
- The Mars Grill;
- S. Space Camp (on select dates);
- Space Shuttle exhibits;
- The Intuitive Planetarium;
- Bus tours of the Marshall Space Flight Center; and
- Saturn V Hall Guided Tours.

The U.S. Space and Rocket Center is located at One Tranquility Base in Huntsville. It’s open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the exception of major holidays. Before you visit, don’t forget to purchase your tickets! Children 4 and younger can attend for free, while those aged 5 to 12 can get tickets for $17, and those 13 and older can get tickets for $25. Simulators, movies, tours, and movies may incur additional ticket costs.
